We Know Tile and Stone
Associated Stone & Tile Installers, Inc. (ASTI) has installed tile and natural stone in Greater Boston since 1972. The Arpino family began installing tile for homeowners in 1970. In 1972 the business was incorporated as Arpino Tile Company, a commercial union shop. In 1990 it became ASTI, Inc., as the work grew to include stone, countertop fabrication, glass tile and building facades and lobbies. Today ASTI works from 319 Waverley Oaks Road in Waltham, the main office it shares with its sister companies, and holds Massachusetts Home Improvement Contractor registration #141722.
About 60% of our work is for homeowners, 25% for contractors and builders and 15% for designers. Residential work is now most of what we do, from complete bathrooms to backsplashes, fireplaces and floors, and we continue to take on commercial and institutional projects.
Who you’ll work with
- Tony Arpino, President – estimates, jobsite supervision and scheduling
- Diana Moores – takeoffs and pricing, and meets with customers
- Don Locke – in-home estimates; also greets customers at the Tile International showroom
Our installation crew is six people, with trusted subcontractors brought in when the schedule calls for it.

OUR APPROACH
How We Build It
Shower walls are waterproofed with the Schluter system. Shower floors get a rubber membrane and a mortar mud bed, or Schluter waterproofing when the shower has a linear drain. We build curbless showers and install radiant heat in floors, shower seats and kitchen countertops.
Diana Moores prepares the takeoff and price, Don Locke or Tony Arpino visits for the estimate, and Tony supervises the job and schedules the crew. ASTI pulls permits where required, coordinates plumbing and electrical work, and warrants its workmanship for one year from completion.
